Please be advised that PS Lightwave’s Disaster Recovery Plan was activated last week and we’ve been preparing and carefully monitoring the potential for severe weather with two active storm systems brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. Our Disaster Response Planning Committee continues to meet daily and will escalate our response if the conditions warrant it. The current data from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) indicates that Hurricane Marco has been downgraded to a tropical storm and is expected to weaken as it hits landfall in SE Louisiana. At this time, the impact upon the Greater Houston area is not expected to be significant.

Tropical Storm Laura has strengthened somewhat and is forecasted to reach hurricane strength. Landfall along the upper Texas coast is quite possible, which has the potential to bring significant wind, storm surge, and rainfall to the Great Houston area. Currently, Houston is in the eastern fringe of the forecast cone, with the majority of the path expected east of the Greater Houston area. Space Center Weather is forecasting the trajectory of Tropical Storm (expected Hurricane) Laura:

Scenario One: Near or direct impact on Houston by a powerful hurricane 30% chance

Scenario Two: Powerful hurricane near or east of Texas-Louisiana border 70% chance

Scenario Three: Weaker storm, central or southeastern Louisiana 0% chance

Conditions are subject to change and we will be monitoring the progress and continue to follow the actions prescribed in our Disaster Recovery plan, including proactively monitoring and taking all necessary steps to safeguard our network and your connectivity.

PS Lightwave has a proven record of being pro-active in preparedness, restoration efforts, and communication with our customers, vendors, and staff throughout a disaster event. We commit to providing the highest level of responsiveness and network up-time and restoration. Any potential issues will be addressed swiftly, efficiently, and safely.

You can expect updated communications, as needed. If you need to update your emergency contact information with our Network Operations Center (NOC) or have any other questions or issues, please contact us 24 x 7 x 365 at 832-615-8000 or support@pslightwave.com at any time.
