Swen Wulf joined Pure Speed Lightwave as Network Architect and Security Manager in 2014 after working in the Phonoscope Enterprise Group as Network Security Manager since 2002. In 2017, Mr. Wulf was promoted to Director of Network Operations and currently leads the teams that plan, provision, and monitor the telecommunication services that Pure Speed Lightwave offers to its customers.
Mr. Wulf got his start in information technology by completing a three-year apprenticeship in Hamburg, Germany in the mid 1990s with a degree in IT business management. After serving in the German military and a few years of work as a network administrator and programmer, he immigrated in 1999 to the United States. He completed several Microsoft and Cisco certifications and gained experience working as a network administrator for an energy company as well as at a data center before joining PEG/PLW.
With over 25 years of experience in the data center, service provider, and enterprise sectors, he understands the challenges that large and small enterprises face today. With an all-around knowledge of network hardware, internet technologies, and security, Mr. Wulf provides insight and expertise to our customers.
Mr. Wulf enjoys mentoring new team members and networking with peers. He makes a point to visit at least one network or technology event a year to stay current and keep a pulse on what is developing in IT.
The network world is full of specialization, and Mr. Wulf has a vast and diverse understanding of it. He can troubleshoot a Linux box having an issue one day, and a packet loss on a private Ethernet circuit the next.
During his service with the German Armored Infantry, Mr. Wulf achieved the highest possible promotion and finished with the rank of lance corporal.
